
GARBAGE AND RECYCLING GUIDE

The Borough Council thanks you for participating in our recycling, clean-up, and trash removal programs.
The Borough of Milford has adopted single-stream recycling. We hope that this will increase participation, efficiency, and flexibility while reducing transportation costs. All recyclables can now be co-mingled in the same container. Materials no longer need to be sorted, separated, or tied as in the past. PLEASE REVIEW THE RECYCLING GUIDELINES BELOW.
GARBAGE is collected every Monday. If New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Day falls on a Monday, garbage will be collected the following day. All residences and businesses are allowed to put out four (4) twenty (20) gallon bags or cans per week. All garbage must be in either water-tight bags or water-tight cans with lids. Please place garbage curbside the night before the scheduled pick-up. Collections begin at 7 AM.
CHRISTMAS TREES – the collection will start during the week of JANUARY 2, 2023
ANNUAL CLEAN-UP DAY – New date will be announced for 2023. This year was scheduled for JUNE 25, 2022 (4th Saturday).
LEAVES, LAWN CLIPPINGS, BRANCHES/TWIGS, and GARDEN MATERIALS shall be cut, tied in bundles, and brought to the curb by 5 AM for collection on the following dates: shall be cut, tied in bundles, and brought to the curb by 5 AM for collection is scheduled to be held on JUNE 24, 2023 (4TH Saturday)
*Note: brush may be picked up a few days after the scheduled date.
*The Borough of Milford encourages residents to use lawn paper bags for leaf pick up.
RECYCLING
Recycling is collected every other Tuesday. Please place recycling out the night before your scheduled pick-up day. Collections begin at 7 AM. If you’re recycling is not out when the service personnel arrive, pick-up will not be made until the next collection day.

Please try to help keep Milford clean by not overfilling receptacles.
SINGLE-STREAM RECYCLING

GLASS
Food and beverage container glasses with rings and caps removed will be accepted. All containers MUST be emptied and rinsed.
PLASTICS
Plastic bottles numbered 1 thru 7 are accepted for recycling. All containers MUST be cleaned and rinsed.
ALUMINUM, TIN and BI-METAL CANSAll food and beverage cans are recyclable. Please make sure that food and other residue are removed.
PAPER, NEWSPAPERS, MAGAZINES, JUNK MAIL, BOOKS
Junk mail and office paper, newspapers, paperback books, and hard-covered books are all accepted. Please tie in bundles 8” – 12” high or co-
mingle with other recyclables. Please protect the items from rain and snow.
CARDBOARD, CHIPBOARD, BROWN PAPER BAGS
Corrugated, chipboard (boxboard), and brown paper bags will be accepted.
Tied in bundles 8” – 12” high or co-mingled with other recyclables. Pieces
no larger than 30” x 30”.
